Florida shattered records, Thursday – reporting 10,000 new coronavirus cases – its biggest one-day increase in the state since the pandemic started, according to a Reuters tally.

To put that into perspective – Florida, with 21 million residents, reported more new daily coronavirus cases Thursday than any European country had at the height of their outbreaks.

In an effort to slow the spread of the virus, Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered bars – and some beaches – closed…

But he has not mandated the use of masks.

These protesters in Sanford, Florida say it’s their right to wear a mask, or not:

“This isn’t about whether you are for masks or against masks, it’s about you doing what’s in the best interests for your family, for your community, but YOU making that decision.”

Others say wearing a mask in public is imperative.

“As much as none of us like this, just try and be patient and doing the right things – if we adhere to what the doctors are telling us, doing the right things will get us out of this quicker than not doing it.”

Top U.S. infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci this week warned that if Americans don’t wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines, the number of new daily cases in the country could reach 100,000.
