  • From rock to techno to classical, Måneskin breaks down band’s many influences: “That’s the cool thing about us”
by Josh Johnson on July 5, 2022 at 10:00 am

ABCBeing a band that can cover The Four Seasons, Iggy Pop and Britney Spears in the same set, Måneskin is clearly inspired by many different types of music. As frontman Damiano David tells ABC Audio, each of the band members has their own specific influences that they bring to the Måneskin sound. “[Guitarist] Thomas [Raggi] is very into ’70s and ’80s rock ‘n’ roll, so the more classic, milestone bands,” David explains. “And I’m more into the [2000s], Strokes and Arctic [Monkeys] and stuff like that.” Meanwhile, bassist Victoria De Angelis’ tastes range from U.K. punk to techno, while drummer Ethan Torchio is the “mad dog in this conversation.” “Ethan is f***ing crazy and listens to instrumental songs … classical music,” David laughs. Those influences are not limited to Måneskin’s wide array of covers, but apply to the group’s original material, as well. “Every time you hear our songs, you can hear many different things, and all of that will be correct,” David says. “Maybe there’s more of my influence in a song, and in another there’s more of Thomas’ influence.” “I think that that’s the cool thing about us,” he adds. “We kind of always manage to mix all our different tastes together.” Copyright © 2022, ABC Audio. • Travis Barker gives health update after “life-threatening” medical scare
by Andrea Tuccillo on July 3, 2022 at 12:45 am

Jerritt Clark/Getty Images for Interscope RecordsTravis Barker took to social media Saturday to explain the medical emergency that landed him in the hospital earlier in the week. He confirmed that he suffered from a “severe life-threatening” case of pancreatitis. “I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great. But After dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since,” Barker tweeted. “During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube,” he continued. “This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.” “I am so very very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better,” Barker wrote. Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, also broke her silence on the medical scare, writing on her Instagram Story, “Oh what a scary and emotional week it has been. Our health is everything and sometimes we take for granted how quickly it can change.” She continued, “I am so grateful to God for healing my husband, for all of your prayers for him and for us, for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support. I am so touched and appreciative.” Copyright © 2022, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

  • Jack White explains intentions for Prince’s ‘Camille’ album: “I would never mess with Prince’s music”
by Josh Johnson on July 1, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Ki Price/Getty ImagesEarlier this year, it was reported that Jack White and his label, Third Man Records, had obtained the rights to release the lost Prince album Camille. White has now shared a bit more info about the project and, more specifically, what he will not be doing with the record. In an Instagram post, White sets out to clarify a “misleading” recent headline reporting that he “plans to ‘re-edit'” Camille. “I want to make sure the message is clear,” White says. “Neither I nor Third Man Records, have any intention of ‘editing’ or ‘remixing’ Prince’s music.” Prince originally recorded Camille in 1986 under a pseudonym. While all the songs on the album were eventually put out, including on Prince’s 1987 record Sign o’ the Times, they were never released together as a single package. “I was referring to simply putting the songs in the original order that the album Camille was in, as those songs have been put out in multiple releases since Camille was first taken off the presses,” White explains. “I would never mess with Prince’s music,” he adds. “Hopefully that clears up any misunderstanding, and this album can see the light of day in its original form.” Copyright © 2022, ABC Audio. The remaining dates on the run were postponed. Greta Van Fleet has been touring in support of the band’s sophomore album, 2021’s The Battle at Garden’s Gate. No cause of death has been shared. Joey and Linda married in October 2009, and according to an obituary from the Boston Herald, she was the love of his life. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer once described meeting his future wife as “the biggest rush you ever had in your life.” Linda was born in Decatur, Georgia, and grew up in the Houston area. She worked in the high-tech industry for many years. According to the obituary, “Linda loved to laugh and had a wicked, mischievous sense of humor. She loved fine food and had a passion for driving fast cars. She enjoyed the unwavering love of their beautiful family dogs, Lucy and Cosmo … Above all, she loved her family and especially her nieces and nephews. She had an insatiable concern for the well-being of children everywhere.” Linda is survived by her parents and three older sisters. No memorial service has been planned yet. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Center in Memphis, Tennessee, or K-9 Angels Rescue in Houston. In March 2022, Aerosmith announced in a statement that Joey Kramer had decided to sit out the band’s concerts this year “so that he can focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times.” Copyright © 2022, ABC Audio.
